Discussion Topic:   Hospitality

As good Southerners, we understand the concept of hospitality (after all, we know how to serve fried chicken or make cheese grits for a crowd!).  But on Saturday morning, May 9, guest speaker Jill Zimmerman McFadden will discuss how this concept of hospitality has changed and narrowed throughout the centuries, and how our understanding of hospitality may not be exactly what the apostle Paul had in mind when he told the Roman church to "welcome each other as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God" or what Peter was saying when he exhorted believers to "show hospitality to one another without grumbling."

We'll start off by examining the concept biblically, then historically, and discuss together how we can apply a broadened and biblical understanding of hospitality in our lives and in our church today.  Come ready to be challenged by God's Word and sharpened by discussion with each other!  Invite your friends, too!  9:00 - 10:30 am at the church.  Continental breakfast provided.  Please make reservations for the Nursery through Gigi Zimmerman, nevinz@aol.com.

Sunday Morning Coffee Fellowships

The May-July schedule for the Sunday morning coffee fellowship hour is listed below and is also posted on the church website under "Calendars." The Campus Outreach students will be worshipping with us during June and July and the church will be buying doughnuts to help with the food during the time they are here.  We will also ask the college students to help with clean up and provide drinks.  If anyone would like to donate to help with the cost to the church, you can place it in the offering plate and mark it "Campus Outreach Sunday Breakfast".

Thanks to all those who are volunteering this quarter, but extra helpers are still needed for July 12 and July 19.  If you can help out or need to change your day to help, please contact Gigi Zimmerman at nevinz@aol.com  or Martha Middleton at mamiddleton@knology.net

July 4th Celebration

Mark your calendars now for our annual Fourth of July celebration.  We will have water slides, volleyball in the gym, a wonderful dinner and a great finish to a week of VBS!  Plan now to attend.

Thank You!

Thanks to everyone who helped in a big or small way with the lunches during the Easter week services.  We averaged around 65 to 75 people per day who stayed to eat with us, and the fellowship with believers from other churches was a wonderful blessing to all who participated.
