Covenant
Christian School Begins It's 25th Year!
As Covenant Christian School
opens it doors again on August 20th, twenty-five
years after first doing so, there are many events
happening.
The teachers report for inservice
meetings on August 16th & 17th The
Back- to-School Fair is August 18th at 10:00 am
for preschool parents and students and 11:00 am
for K5-12th grade parents and students.
Covenant's dedication
service will be August 19th at 6:00 pm
in the Sanctuary.
The playground has gotten a
facelift with a new fence. The school has purchased a
new (to us) bus that hopefully will not cause as much
concern for its drivers as the previous one.
Covenant is fielding a varsity
soccer team for the first time. Home matches
will be held at the Lynn Haven Recreation Center on
Hilltop Drive. The dates and times are: September
14th (4:00 pm), September 18th (5:00 pm), September
21st (5:00 pm), September 28th (5:00 pm), and
October 2nd (5:00 pm).
We are very excited to see
what the Lord will do this school year!
Please pray for the students,
families, teachers and administration of the school.

Work
Day a Great Success!
The Deacons would like
to thank everyone who came out for the
workdays on July 14th and July 28th.
Much work was accomplished without any one
person exhausting themselves on a particular
job. The new playground fence was
installed the week of July 30th and
the fence around the picnic area was fixed.
Please help us keep the fences looking great
by preventing our children from climbing on
them. We also got a great deal of yard
trash cleared out and piled up as well as
extra deep cleaning and painting inside. Thanks
again to those who came out to lend helping
hands and were willing to tithe their time to
help maintain the beautiful facilities the
Lord has blessed us with. If you have
any ideas or suggestions for future workdays -
please share them with Doug DeVries, Chairman
of the Diaconate. |

Covenant
Church is committed to
the Ministry of Mercy and Service. The Bible is very
clear about our responsibilities to each other as
followers of Christ. Whether moving a family, helping
with financial needs, cleaning or repairing a
house, providing meals, visiting and fellowshipping
with the widows and widowers or simply giving
Christian love and support during trying times,
Covenant Church desires to "do unto others as
they would have done unto themselves."
If
you know of any mercy ministry need(s) that exist
inside or outside of the church, please make the
appropriate person aware. It is better to
hear about a need twice than not at all. Elder
Russell Jinks oversees the Mercy Ministry at Covenant
along with Jonathan Hayes of the Diaconate.
Cindy Georgiadis and Jerrie Kirksey handle meal needs
and general mercy ministry related needs. Mercy
ministry related information and needs are made known
to those who need to know and will not be made public
or general information. If you would like to
help in a part of the mercy ministry at Covenant or
have ideas and suggestions - please let us know.
You
can visit the church website at the below address to
get contact information for the above folks and get
additional information on local hospital visiting
hours.

Samaritan's
Purse Shoebox Ministry
It's not too early to
begin thinking about the annual Samaritan's Purse
Shoebox project. Tax-free week is August 4 - 13 for
school supplies, so now is a good time to begin
collecting items. The filled boxes will
be gathered up in November and more
information will will follow in the months to come.
Contact Agnes Godert for more information.

New Wednesday Meal Program
We
are looking for groups of individuals who are willing
to prepare a Wednesday night meal once or twice during
the school year. There are prayer groups, bible study
groups, men's groups, ladies groups, youth groups and
choirs, and just groups of friends in our church. We
know many of you are excellent cooks, and believe
there are others who have not had the opportunity to
share their talents. We would love for you and
your group to take a Wednesday night during the year
and plan, prepare, and serve the meal that night.
If we get at least 10 groups signed on, each group
would only need to do this 2 times during the
entire year. This is an excellent opportunity
for us to build community within the church, and help
build the Wednesday program. If you are willing
to be a part of this cooking outreach please
contact Laura Knetzer at 265-2752, or let Bob Hayes or
Rod Webb know and they can pass the message along. You
may also e-mail Laura at mlknetzer@comcast.net. |
