Merry Christmas to All!
December 2006
Dear Martha,

With the busy Christmas season upon us, we hope you will take the time to enjoy your friends and family and thank God for His gift of grace to us through the birth of our Savior.

Music Notes at Covenant

December brings a month filled with special musical opportunities at Covenant. Along with specials from handbells, solos & ensembles, all of our choirs will be presenting their Christmas selections.

The Children's choirs will be singing on Sunday evening, December 10th. The Preschool Choir will sing "Bethlehem Lullaby" and "Come On Ring Those Bells." The Elementary Choir will also present their musical, The Real Story of the Night Before Christmas. You won't want to miss seeing our children as they tell the Christmas story in music and drama and 6:00 p.m. on the 10th.

On Sunday morning, December 17th, the adult choir and orchestra will present the Christmas cantata Emmanuel, God With Us. That evening the Youth Choir will be singing and leading the congregation in worship.

Please pray that God will be pleased with us as we offer Him worship through our music during this Christmas season.

Youth Choir News

The Covenant Youth Choir will enjoy a Progressive Dinner and Christmas Caroling Party on Friday night, December 15th from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. If you live in the Northridge/Northshore area and would like a visit from the carolers, please contact Gigi Zimmerman 265-4333 or Deb Hinkle 914-9494. The party will begin and end at the Zimmermans, but will visit the Schneiders and Underhills as they eat dinner along the route.

Focus on the Family's ~ The Truth Project

What is “The Truth Project”? A recent study by the Barna Research Group revealed the stunning fact that only 9 percent of professing Christians have a biblical worldview. This lack of commitment to biblical guiding principles causes believers to live in a manner not much different from non-believers. A personal sense of significance is rarely experienced, we spend our money and time on things that fail to satisfy and we begin to wonder what life’s ultimate purpose really is. We are, in short, losing our bearings. To counter this slide within the body of Christ, Focus on the Family has launched an ambitious and powerful project – The Truth Project.

The Truth Project is a DVD-based curriculum comprised of 12 one-hour lessons taught by Dr. Del Tackett. This study provides a basis for looking at all of life from a biblical perspective. Each lesson discusses in detail the relevance and importance of living the Christian worldview in daily life. For more information see the www.thetruthproject.org web site. The Truth Project study is proving to be a life transforming effort. As it has been throughout history, God continues to call ordinary people to make an eternal difference in our world.

You are invited to participate in the Truth Project study at Covenant Presbyterian Church starting Wednesday night January 10, 2007. Each session will begin at 6:30PM and end at 8:15PM. We will view one lesson per week for twelve weeks. Each DVD lesson will be followed by about 45 minutes of discussion in a question and answer format. After completing the 12-lesson study, attendees will be qualified to teach the material in their own small group.

The discussion will be led by Dr. Lamar Allen who has been trained as a facilitator. Dr. Allen also has many years of experience in studying and teaching the principles that form the basis of a Christian worldview. Everyone who participates will be given access to a web site which contains an extensive array of helpful material, including all the slides.
