New Young Adult Bible Study
A Bible study class is being
offered for those in their
twenties to study the book,
"On Being Presbyterian, Our
Beliefs, Practices, and Stories"
by Sean Michael Lucas, PCA
pastor and seminary professor.
The class will meet each Sunday
night from 7:30 to 9:00pm
starting June 28 (except for
July 6) and ending on August
16. The class will include a
light meal and then a Bible
study led by Nevin Zimmerman at
the Zimmerman house at 1510
Wildridge Road. For more
information contact Nevin or
Gigi at
nevin@nevinzimmerman.com or
at 265-4333. For those
interested, there will be a
basketball game at the Z-rena
after the study. The book,
"On Being Presbyterian"
suggests that being
Presbyterian means embracing
distinctive beliefs, practices,
and stories as one's own. As
new members, church officers,
and potential Presbyterians
explore beliefs such as God as
king over all of life, practices
such as Presbyterian church
government, and stories such as
the founding of the PCA, they
will understand and move to
embrace this way of being
Christian. Written in a
non-technical style, "On
Being Presbyterian" is an
unique resource for assimilating
and equipping believers. Here's
the remaining schedule:
July 6, NO MEETING
July 13 ~ Zimmerman's,
7:30 pm, Supper & Bible
study
July 20 ~ Ashley
DeVries', 7:30 pm, Supper &
Bible study

A New Class for
Adults of All Ages
Room 202
Faith: True, Practical,
Maturing
A Study Based on James
Teacher: Lamar Allen
There is a vast difference
between age and maturity. Not
everyone who grows old grows
up. That is as true spiritually
as it is physically. Failing to
mature spiritually causes
problems in our daily lives. It
causes problems in our personal
lives, in our homes, in our
churches, in our jobs and in all
relationships.
The epistle of James was written
to help us understand and attain
spiritual maturity. In verses
1:3-4 James says, "for you
know that the testing of your
faith produces steadfastness.
And let steadfastness have its
full effect, that you may be
perfect and complete, lacking in
nothing."
Spiritual maturity does not
happen automatically. A mature
faith requires intentionality, a
deliberate cooperating with the
Holy Spirit as He graciously
works to transform us into a
likeness of Christ. In this
epistle James informs,
instructs, and challenges us to
be people of integrity, people
of mature character, with no
weak spots.
Join us in Room 202 at 9:15 AM
for a lively and rewarding time
in God's Word.

Covenant Family
Did you know that some of our
Covenant family have recorded
CD's? What an excellent way to
fill our minds with Christian
thoughts and excellent music
too! If you'd like to learn
more, read on:
-
Jill
Zimmerman has a
CD with the trio
Ordinary Time
entitled "Until He Comes",
recorded with Peter LaGrand and
Ben Keyes. A review from
"Image Update", an on-line
religious journal,
states, "...the band places
standards such as "How Sweet and
Awesome is the Place" (Isaac
Watts) and "Come Thou Fount of
Every Blessing" (Robert
Robinson) alongside originals by
Ben Keyes, Peter La Grand, Tom
Wuest, and Jill Zimmerman... In
knowing the roots of their
art--the tradition of sturdy
songs built on the lineage of
folk, Americana, and blues--the
trio has created an album
bearing an historical patina.."
Copies can be purchased directly
from Jill by contacting her at
jillmzimmerman@gmail.com
-
Shelby
Middleton has
recorded a 6-track CD of
original music that
she arranged, played on,
produced and debuted in May.
Although not overtly Christian,
you will immediately hear the
Christian nature of the songs.
Meant to reach the lost as well
as Christians, you can visit her
MySpace page to hear the tracks
before you buy.
http://www.myspace.com/shelbymiddleton11101
The CDs are $7.00 and can be
purchased from Jim & Martha
Middleton at 763-3620 or
mamiddleton@knology.net
-
Paige Strackman,
Beverly Dunaway's daughter, is
currently working on a CD that
should be ready in time for
Christmas. It will be a
compilation of Christian songs
and hymns and will showcase her
beautiful voice and warm style.
Contact Beverly for more
information and it's
availability at
