Covered Dish Lunch

Sunday, July 4th
 Following the Morning Worship Service

Please join us for a Fourth of July Celebration this Sunday, July 4th, as we fellowship together and praise God for the blessings He's given us and our country.
The church will provide the meat, dessert and drinks.  The church family is asked to bring:

Last name begins with A-J:  Bring one large vegetable or starch side dish
Last name begins with K-Z:   HOST GROUP --  Bring one large salad

As you're planning on what to bring, remember that the college kids will be with us for lunch, so put a few extra names in the pot!

Also remember that there will be no evening worship service on July 4th only.  Enjoy the evening with your family as you celebrate our nation's birthday.

As you are preparing for worship on Communion Sunday, July 11th, the designated benevolent offering for July is the Covenant Church Mercy Ministry.

Mission Update from Mercy Uganda

Mercy Uganda would like to thank everyone for your prayers and support for us in this ministry and for Laura Knetzer specifically on her recent trip to Uganda.  The Lord continues to open so many doors for us as we minister to the many needs of women and children in that country.  On this trip we were able to provide:

  • over 25 mosquito nets
  • purchase foam mattresses and blankets for several children (which got them off of cold dirt floors)
  • pursue medical help for children
  • x-rays for Kato
  • build upon our relationships with the schools where our sponsored children attend.
  • identified several immediate needs of children through that sponsorship program
  • working with the schools to help meet those needs of shelter, food, safety, and clothing. Please pray for these children and for us as we seek to minister to them.
  • purchase 7 sewing machines which are already providing a means for ladies in several areas to produce an income for themselves and their families
  • we are now involved in 2 agriculture and livestock projects. One will help the people of Karamoja to become more self-sustaining, and the other project is one in which Mercy Uganda will train orphans in agriculture and livestock, providing life skills they so desperately need.  This second project will also provide a way for Mercy Uganda to become more self-sustaining over time, allowing us more resources as we minister to the women and children in Uganda.
  • We are prayerfully seeking to purchase land by the end of 2011 and covet your prayers.

These children recently lost their mother and are some of those we are ministering to.
