SPRING GARAGE SALE
Please hold on to those
special items you're planning on giving
away and donate them to the youth choir
garage sale. You may take them to
the Youth House beginning on April 1st
for the sale to be held one Saturday
during April--exact date TBA.
PAPA JOHNS & KRISPY KREME
SALES
Another way you can
help the Youth Choir earn money for
their spring tour is to purchase a
coupon from one of the members for a
Papa John's Pizza or a dozen Krispy
Kreme doughnuts. Both are
excellent values, and a portion of the
proceeds will help the choir.
The Papa John's coupon is $5.00 and
entitles you to one free large cheese
pizza. It also has 8 other
valuable coupons that can be used
later, including two "buy 1 get 1
free" coupons. The Krispy
Kreme coupon is also $5.00 and can be
redeemed for 1 dozen glazed doughnuts.
If you don't need pizza or doughnuts,
then consider purchasing one for a
"thank you" gift for someone
else!

Wednesday
Night Children's Program
"To everything there is a season, a
time for change, under Heaven."
Ecc. 3:1
Covenant's Wednesday
night children's program was blessed for
a season by the spiritual gifts of
Bessie Zimmerman. For two months,
our children enjoyed hearing her tell
stories from Judges of the Old
Testament, complete with high-interest
visuals from a flannel graph board.
Bessie lives in Wichita, Kansas, and
visits her family here in the winter
months. When she learned we had a
need for help in this ministry, she was
more than willing to oblige.
Bessie told us, "It
seems that I have taught children's
Sunday School classes nearly all of my
adult life, but it wasn't until 1958
that I felt I had really learned how to
teach them. I had the privilege of
taking my first courses in Child
Evangelism Fellowshp (CEF) on learning
how to teach children. I learned
how important it is to relate the truths
from Bible Stories into the children's
lives. Instead of it just being an
interesting Bible Story, they see how
people are much the same today. It
takes prayer, time, and effort, but it
is worth it all. We have learned
in studying the Judges that obedience to
God brings blessings. Disobedience
to God brings punishment. I have
had backyard Bible Clubs in the
summertime as well as weekly Bible Clubs
during the school year. I have
also assisted my daughter in the Bible
Clubs that she directs in the public
school. The ministry to children
is so important. 'Train
a child in the way he should go, and
when he is old he will not turn from
it.' Proverbs 22:6.
I am so thankful to God that He has
given me a long life to serve Him."
We
are so thankful to God for this as well.
Even when she had a cold, Bessie
never missed a Wednesday night.
It has been said she would begin
preparing for next week's story on
Thursday mornings, then spend hours and
hours on it throughout the week. To all
who saw her in action and the way she
could capture and hold the attention of
approximately 25 children, this was no
surprise.
In addition to being trained by
CEF, Bessie took another course about
three years ago and became the oldest
person in CEF to become
"certified" in Effective
Childhood Training (ECT).
Bessie is a humble servant of God
who truly realizes the importance of the
children's ministry.
We pray for the future
generations who will serve in such a way
for the Kingdom of God, and we pray for
continued blessings upon Bessie for her
obedience to God.

Covenant
Christian School
Covenant Christian School's enrollment is
open to all at this point.
The last two years we have seen classes
fill quickly as current students are
re-enrolled and new families discover the
quality Christian education Covenant offers.
As re-enrollment figures have been good
again this year, I encourage any families
considering Covenant to pick up a packet and
enroll quickly. Call Becki Swartz during the
week at 769.7448 for information.
The
school is constantly looking for ways to
improve its program. We have added
fast-pitch softball for girls this spring
and are planning to add varsity soccer this
coming fall.
The Lord is blessing this community
through this ministry of Covenant
Presbyterian Church. It is exciting to see
lives changed and children prepared with a
solid Christian foundation. I ask you to
pray for this vital ministry and all who
labor in it.
