COVENANT FAMILY

"Second Sunday Lunch" to Be Held March 8th:

Our second Sunday lunch will be held as usual after morning worship on March 8th, but we are making a slight change in the routine.  As you know, your responsibilities for the dinner are dependent on the first letter of your last name.  The "host" group will now be asked to bring TWO dishes during their turn (rather than one).  We want to be able to invite all of our visitors to join us, and have found that we're running out of food a little too quickly.  Therefore, please follow this schedule for the month of March:

March 8th Schedule:

Last name A-G:  Bring one large salad
Last name H-Q:  Bring one large vegetable or starch
Last name R-Z:   Bring one large dessert AND one large side (any kind).  Also, set-up and clean-up.

Special Notes forApril, May & June:
  • APRIL:There will be NO covered dish lunch the second Sunday of April (Easter Sunday).  However, we WILL have a fingerfood reception following the choir cantata that evening, so please plan accordingly.
  • MAY & JUNE:  Watch for details concerning changes to the schedule for May and June.  Plans will be outlined in the April Newsletter

Sunday Morning Fellowship Hosts for March:

  • March 1st:  E. J. Randles, Robb & Susan Moss, Dennis & Jan Hlad
  • March 8th:  Roth & Cylle Rowell, David & Susan Franklin
  • March 15th:  Steve & Tyler Bingham, Jeff & Jennifer Wit

Adult Choir Easter Cantata, Sunday, April 12th

It's not too late for you to sing in the choir's Easter cantata.  We especially need male voices!  The cantata is "Lift High the Cross" by Lloyd Larson and contains beautiful hymns as well as contemporary melodies.  Please keep the choir and orchestra in your prayers as they prepare for this musical worship service that will convey the powerful message of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ our Lord.

The choir practices every Wednesday night from 6:00-7:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall, and will have an extra rehearsal on Saturday, April 11th.  Even if you can only make some of the rehearsals, we would appreciate your help.  CD's are available for practicing at home.  Contact Nevin Zimmerman for more information.

A fingerfood reception will follow the cantata, so please make plans now to attend.

MISSION MINISTRY

2008 Operation Christmas Child Update

The folks at Operation Christmas Child have provided the following update on the 2008 project.  Some 8 million gift-filled shoe boxes were collected, including 4.9 million in the United States--the most ever since the project's inception 16 years ago. That's 8 million children and their families who will hear the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ, and it is mission-minded churches like Covenant who make this spiritual harvest possible!

"Today, The Family Altar"

Since the founding of Covenant Church, we have been distributing "Today" from the Christian Reformed Church. They have circulated this devotional guide worldwide for well over 50 years. In the present economic climate and in light of modern technology, they are working to reduce the number of "hard" copies circulated by 30%. This will impact the number of copies Covenant receives starting with the May / June edition.

To help make up the difference, they are offering two new ways to receive "Today" over the Internet.  If you would like to receive it in text format via email, please go to http://thisistoday.net/subscribe.php , enter you name (optional) and/or email address.  They provide an additional option if you would like to get the weekly text of the "Back To God Hour" radio broadcast which is heard at 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. each Sunday on WPCU-LP.

For the daily audio "Podcast" go to http://www.backtogod.net/podcasts/Today/podcast.xml and at the bottom of the yellow box header, click on "Subscribe to this feed" and enter the information requested.

If you have any questions on any of the above, contact Bob Hayes, bhayes409@aol.com.
