VBS Coming Soon!

Please mark your calendars now for another exciting adventure in Vacation Bible School at Covenant!  Throughout the week, June 25th  - 29th, VBS kids will become "Sea Explorers" as they dive into the book of Jonah with Summer Seaquest.  The treasures they'll discover on this voyage will prove to be priceless as jewels of repentance and obedience are just some of the riches waiting to be found!  Be on the "lookout" for more information, including how to register and how you can help, or contact K.J. Williams at 271-8628 or
kimndax@aol.com.

We also need between 60 - 80 "Pringles" chip cans (or any brand potato chip that comes in the tube cans) for one of our VBS crafts.   There will be a box set up in the Fellowship Hall for your contributions.  Thanks for your help!

Baby Shower to be Re-scheduled

Wednesday Night Children's Program
"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.  And be thankful.  Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.  And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. " Colossians 3:15-17

It was another blessed year for the children in Covenant's Wednesday night program.  When asked what he thought about coming to church on Wed. nights, one child replied, "It's fun because we get to sing to Jesus with our friends and do crafts."  Another said her favorite part was the skit they did in church recently.  The children also participated in Operation Christmas Child, Missions week, and sang in the (children's) Christmas cantata.  Whether it was listening to a Bible story, singing in Choir, memorizing Scripture, or creating something fun, we are grateful to God for any opportunity to join together and give Him honor and praise.

The Children's Choir (K-5 and up) will join the Youth Choir in leading our call to worship at the morning service on May 13th. We will meet the following Wednesday, May16th, once more before breaking for the summer.  All will continue as scheduled that night except there will be no "Activity Hour."  Instead, parents are invited to a closing program from 7:30 - 8"00 p.m. (location TBA).

Uganda Mission Trip May 29th - June 25th
We are in the final process of completing the steps necessary for the thirteenth team from Covenant to travel to Uganda on a short-term mission trip. Our plans are to leave the US on Tuesday, May 29 and we will return on June 25. We will be working with four Christian schools with which Covenant has had some previous involvement. These schools were founded to help educate orphans and other students from very poor families. We will help Henry Krabbendam in training students in personal evangelism. We will have special events for youth, ladies, men, and church leaders. We have been asked to work with some Ugandan music teams.  We will spend a good deal of time on construction, completing the ACTI ministry facility there and helping do facility maintenance repair and even new construction at three of the Christian schools we visit. Each weekend we are there we will take an active role in Sunday school and churches in the area.

Our team includes Glenda Delmar, Steve Dornan (a friend of Bob Haley's who graduates from RTS Orlando in a couple of weeks), Beverly Dunaway, Bob Haley, Lindsey Johnson, Karen Napier, E J Randles, and Rod Webb.

Tinklenbergs Going to China
From Virgil & Beverly:

We are being called by the Lord to work as His servants in a new location this summer.  Rather than in a National Park, this year it will be outside of the United States, in Asia. A difference is that we are being advised to share this visit with our friends for their prayer, praise, supplication, and support. We will be joining members of the church, where our son, Roy, is the pastor.  Roy, and his wife, Esther, will not be going. Our mission work will be at two Chinese orphanages in China. We will also work at a foster home in another Chinese city. We will leave the US on July 26 and return to San Francisco mid-August. Prayer and praise, prayer and praise are requested for this work and trip. We ask prayer for our preparation and our work in a closed communist country, where persecution is real.  We praise the Triune Lord for opening doors and calling us to His children in the interior of China. We ask you to join us with your prayer support and if the Holy Spirit moves you, toward supporting us financially.  Please make your payment to Covenant Presbyterian Church, China Mission. 2350 Frankford Ave. Panama City, FL  32405.

Wednesday Night Program Ends
The regular Wednesday night program will end on Wednesday, May 9th.  It will resume in the fall when school starts.  Other activities like the Youth Group and Ladies Circle meetings will continue.  Watch the bulletin and Courier for future meeting times and places.
