As we approach the holiday season there will be
many opportunities to share your blessings with
others. Many are listed in this newsletter, but we
would love to hear about other ways you've found.
E-mail us your ideas so that we can publish them in

Covenant has identified five projects that you can
become involved in during the Thanksgiving and
Christmas season.
(1) Operation Christmas Child--the shoebox
ministry
of Franklin Graham's Samaritan's Purse whereby we
are asked to fill one or more shoe boxes with
specified gifts for girls or boys (2-4, 5-9, or 10-14)
for distribution in third world countries. Return date
is Sunday, November 19th. Please use standard size
shoeboxes with the child-specific label and include a
$7.00 check for help with shipping and handling.
Remember to put soap products in a plastic bag and
double bag any candy.
(2) Santa is a Senior Citizen. We are
assigned ten senior citizens in area nursing homes to
purchase gifts for Christmas. Each would be $5 to
$15 each. The gifts need only be purchased and
brought to the church. They do not need to be gift
wrapped. Return date is Friday, December 1st.
(3) Angel Tree. This ministry is part of
Prison Fellowship and provides Christmas gifts for the
children of incarcerated parents. Twenty children (in
eleven families) have been assigned to Covenant.
Those who purchase the gifts are responsible for
getting the gifts to the children before Christmas.
(4) Good Samaritan Ugandan Orphans.
Again we are seeking to raise gifts in $25 blocks
which will provide a sanitary water bottle, a new
blanket, and some toiletry items. A project two
years ago brought clean water to the area.
(5) Thanksgiving and Christmas Baskets.
Our annual project collects canned goods and raises
funds to enable us to purchase fresh food items for
baskets. The deadline for Thanksgiving is November
22nd and Christmas is December 20th.

We will again have our Soup Supper Fellowships
following the evening service each Sunday except

you can help. Look for

The Covenant Christian School Boys Varsity
Basketball team opens it season with a home game
on Thursday November 9th against Dale County
Christian
at 6:30 pm. The home opener for the Boys JV and
Girls Varsity will be Tuesday November 14th against
Tallavana Christian. The complete home schedule for
all three teams is available in downloadable pdf
format below. Click on the link to view and print the
schedule. Season tickets for
all twelve regular season dates (31 total games) are
available at $30 for adults and $10 for students,
children 5 and under are free.
With six seniors graduating from last years’ team, the
Boys Varsity will have many new faces this year.
This will be a much younger and smaller team. Team
Captain, Jon Cummings is the only senior. Returning
starters Justin Schaefer and Ben Bingham are
expected to lead the Lions. Fortunately, the team
has a lot of speed and quickness to help overcome
their lack of size. Coach Robb Moss is also expecting
several players who were part of last seasons’
conference champion JV team to play major roles this
year including Adam Sansom, Zach Bingham and Ryan
Brown.
The Girls Varsity has won the conference
championship the last two seasons, but with only
three girls returning from last years’ squad, they will
have a big challenge this year. Coach Ty Farris has
taken over as head coach replacing Kenneth Grizzell
who moved to Tennessee. Rachel Davis and Liz
Farris are returning starters, but three sophomores
will play major roles; Jesse Paris, transfer Chelsea
McDill and homeschooler Haley Sheffield. Just like
the boys, this will be a much younger and smaller
team than we have had the last couple seasons.

LADIES' CLASS (Room 1, Library)
The ladies class will be starting a new Bible study on
Sunday, November 12th. They just completed an
extended study of the entire Bible (all 66 books!)
from Genesis to Revelation. Look for an
announcement soon on the new topic.
And, of course, ladies of all ages are invited!
BIBLE BOOK STUDY (Room 18,
Computer Lab)
This class is wrapping up their study on the Old
Testament book of Isaiah, and plans to study the
New Testament “Letter to the Hebrews” next.
Hebrews takes an in-depth look at the ongoing
ministry of Jesus to encourage believers to become
mature in Christ and put away their spiritual dullness.
CONCISE THEOLOGY (New class,
Fellowship Hall)
This new class is a series of short studies on
essential teachings of the Christian faith. Each week
we take a look at a different topic, seeing what the
Bible says about God, us, and life in relation to Jesus
Christ. The goal is to know what the Bible teaches
on these primary topics and how that affects our
beliefs and actions. This class is intended
as an introduction to the Christian faith for those
who are new to Christ, but it is helpful for those who
want to know more about what we believe, and to
those who want a “refresher” course on the great
doctrines of our faith.

> Thanksgiving Eve Service & Dessert Fellowship
|
 |
|
Again this year we will have a special Thanksgiving
Eve service at 6:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. This is a
special time for praising our Lord and sharing His
blessings with our church family. Bring a pumpkin pie
or a favorite dessert to share following the service.
