A printed version will also be available, but the website version will be kept up-to-date. Emily Delmar will be taking candid pictures over the next several Sundays before and after the morning service.  We'll be taking pictures at least through Thanksgiving for all those family members that may be away at school.  But don't wait till the last minute to have your picture made!  We hope to have the new directory ready by January.

Also, each Sunday you will find on the Usher's Table in the back of the Sanctuary and in the Fellowship Hall a print-out of the written information that will be part of the Directory. Please take a moment to verify the information and make whatever changes necessary.

Christmas Poinsettias will be used again to decorate our Sanctuary in December.  Look for a sign-up sheet in the bulletin if you would like to help purchase these plants for the Christmas season.

Handbell Ensemble will be playing in the morning worship service on December 16th.  Contact Jackie Hayes at 784-2786 if you are interested in participating.  The group will rehearse at least 2 times prior to playing.

Elder of the Month:  Rich Simpson

Simpson family

Rich and Ellen have two energetic young boys, Richy (5) and William (3).  They have been in Bay County for 11 years.  They moved here from Tennessee for the Trane (Air Conditioning) manufacturing plant.  Ellen graduated from Auburn as a Mechanical Engineer and got her first job as a drilling engineer for Exxon in Houston, TX.  After a few years in Houston she moved to Clarksville, Tennessee to work for Trane and moved up to the position of production manager of the large commercial line managing 300 people and a multi-million dollar budget.  In 1996, Trane moved the family to Lynn Haven to help start the new plant.  They arrived as the concrete slab was being poured.  Ellen designed the first assembly line along with the assembly processes that produced their initial product.  She moved from engineering to Human Resource Manager after that position was suddenly vacant.  She was very involved in the development of the plant from less than 50 employees to 600 employees.  The family decided to have Ellen stay home with Richy when he was 9 months old and has been blessed by that decision ever since.

Rich was born in Scarsdale, NY and grew up in San Marino, CA.  Rich began his adult life as a Cadet at the US Air Force Academy, where he followed in the footsteps of his two older brothers Jim ('82) and Wendell ('80).  Rich had a burning desire to fly helicopters instead of jets and after 3 semesters left the Academy to join the US Army as a Warrant Officer pilot.  He spent a year at Ft Rucker and then was assigned to the 101st Airborne at Ft Campbell, KY.  He spent 8 years with the 101st flying attack and observation helicopters all around the world.   Ellen and Rich were neighbors in Clarksville and met in May of 1990.  They were engaged to be married in August of 1990, five days before Rich deployed to Operation Desert Shield as one of the first units into Saudi Arabia.  Rich spent 8 months flying combat missions in support of Operation Desert Shield and Storm.  Seven days after Rich arrived home from the war, they were married in Ellen's hometown of LaGrange, GA.  Rich left the Army in 1993 and finished his Business Administration degree from Austin Peay State University in 1994.  He was managing a local computer company in Clarksville, TN when they moved to Lynn Haven.  Rich then worked for a local accounting firm as their Director of Technology and then in 2000 started his own technology consulting firm, CRI Technology Solutions employing 6 people.  He is an Eagle Scout and served as the Eagle advancement chairman for the Lake Sands District for seven years.   He is currently a volunteer pilot for the Bay County Sheriff's Office aviation unit.  The family has attended Covenant since 2002 as a direct result of Bob Hopper's friendship through the years.

Garage Sale
November 17th
garage sale
The Youth Choir's annual fall garage sale will be held Saturday morning, November 17th.  We welcome any donations of good, used household items.  You may bring them to the Youth House during the week prior to the sale, beginning Sunday, November 11th.  For more information, call Gigi Zimmerman at 265-4333.

Dinner & a Movie November 17th
movie night
The Youth Choir cordially invites everyone to attend a chili & salad supper, followed by the showing of the new movie "Amazing Grace" on Saturday evening, November 17th.   It's unlikely that you saw the movie when it was released last spring, because it wasn't shown on screens in Panama City.  Yet it was a tremendously powerful and inspirational film based on the story of the British antislavery pioneer William Wilberforce who was responsible for steering anti-slave legislation through British Parliament.  The movie also recounts John Newton's writing of the hymn "Amazing Grace."

Plan to join us for chili, salads & desserts before the movie (5:00 pm - 6:00 pm).  We will begin watching the movie at 6:00 pm and the running time is 111 minutes.  Small children who are too young for the film will watch age-appropriate movies in the nursery.  So there will be something offered for the entire family!

Buying your tickets in advance for this fun evening will save you money.  Tickets for the evening (dinner PLUS the movie) are being sold in advance for $6.00 (adults), $4.00 (12-18 yrs.), $2.50 (under 12).  At the door the cost will be $1.00 more for each ticket.  Please see a Youth Choir member to purchase your tickets, or you may phone or email Gigi Zimmerman 265-4333 or Nevinz@aol.com to make your reservation.

CCS LionCCS Basketball Season

Tips Off in November

It is just about time for another exciting season of Covenant Basketball.  The CCS Boys Varsity team will open the season on Nov 2nd & 3rd at the Dale County Christian School Tip-Off Tournament in Ozark, AL.  The home opener for the Boys JV, Girls Varsity & Boys Varsity will be Friday November 16th against Tallavana Christian.  The complete schedule for all three teams is shown below.  Season tickets for all regular season dates (25 total games) are available at $30 for adults and $10 for students, children 5 and under are free.  Single night admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students.  Covenant will host the Panhandle Christian Conference East Regional Tournament on February 8-9, and the PCC Cheerleading Competition on January 19th.

Both the Boys and Girls Varsity return most of their starters from last year including all-conference players Ben Bingham, Justin Schaefer, Liz Farris, Chelsea McDill and Haley Sheffield.  Last season, the girls won their third consecutive PCC championship, and they are looking to make it four in a row.  After winning 15 games last season, the boys also have the potential to contend for a conference championship.  The Boys JV team has a lot of new players, and it will be interesting to see how they develop.
