Welcome to Covenant!

Welcome to CPC Online!  We are grateful you have stopped by.  I hope you will also join us for worship this Sunday at 10:00 am!  Come a little early Sunday (9:45-9:55) and have some coffee with us in the Fellowship Hall.  Feel free to join us for Sunday School at 9:00a.m. for all ages.  We also have a clean, safe and wonderful staff in our nursery to help with your little ones.  During the school year, we have a Wednesday night program for all ages with a meal together at 5:30 p.m. and various studies at 6:30 p.m.  We also have some small groups.  We would love to personally meet you.  Feel free to contact me to ask me any questions.  I will happily help you in any way I can.  While online with us, don’t forget to check out our Covenant Christian School (Pre-K – 12th grade) website as well.

Our Missional Purpose.  Covenant Presbyterian Church is not a building, although we often meet in one.  We are a people, some of God’s people—sinners saved by the grace and mercy of God alone.  In short, what we do is make disciples of Jesus.  That’s our business.  To be more exact, our missional purpose is to go and make disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ who do three things in life:  glorify God in worship, love one another in community, and serve the world in mission.  Do you realize that these are the three reasons why God knit you together in love in your mother’s womb and brought you into this world?

Our Vision Motto.  As we make disciples we see two things happening and flourishing—relationships and God’s kingdom.  So our motto is “Building Relationships and Building the Kingdom for Now and Eternity”.  First, life is relationships and relationships are hard.  So we are learning together how to build relationships with God (whom we are aiming to glorify), with one another (as we aim to love each other) and the world (as we strive to serve our neighbor).

Second, life is first and foremost about God, not us.  So we are learning together that our life is not about building our little kingdom but about being a part of building the eternal kingdom of God on earth in our own generation.  Third, everything we do and say has eternal significance—so we are learning together to live each day in light of eternity and Christ’s Return in glory when He will judge the living and the dead.  Are you prepared to give an account to God on Judgment Day?  We would love to help you deal with that question.  It is the most important question there is.

The Main Thing.   So our mission is making disciples and our vision is building relationships and the kingdom of God.  But it all boils down to one thing.  The hardest thing in life is to keep the main thing the main thing.  As sinners, we all have spiritual ADHD.  In simplest terms, we are really about helping one another with the main thing, the one great thing in life:  to know God.  To know Him is to trust and obey and glorify and enjoy God personally through Jesus Christ and Him crucified in all of you, in all of life, in all the world.  Is that the single-minded focus of your life?

And so we invite you to come!  It was Jesus who said, “Come, all you who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”  And so, if you are spiritually weary and in search of rest; if you are mourning and you long for comfort; if you are struggling and you desire strength; if you recognize that you are a sinner and need a Savior—we welcome you to join us in the name of Christ.  To the stranger in need of fellowship, to those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, and to whoever will come—this congregation opens wide her doors and welcomes you and all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!
